São Paulo, August 2020 – This month, Eurofarma celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Lactare project, the first private human milk bank in the country idealized by a pharmaceutical company and will raise the flag on the importance of breast milk during the Million Race, which will take place this weekend in Interlagos.

Always committed to social causes, the Eurofarma Stock Car team will pay homage to the Lactare project, which started in August 2019 and has already collected and distributed more than 500 liters of human milk to newborns in the ICU at Hospital Geral de Itapevi. “It is a movement of brotherly love, ensuring premature babies have access to this nourishment that is so essential for their recovery,” comments Maira Billi, Lactare’s creator.

August is also known as Agosto Dourado (Golden August), a national movement created in Brazil in 2017 to encourage breastfeeding. The color gold was chosen because it is what the World Health Organization called the golden food, given the importance of human milk as one of the main causes of up to 13% reduction in death by preventable causes in children under five years of age. It also helps reduce the risk of diarrhea, respiratory infections, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and obesity.

The indicative logo for the Lactare project will be printed on Eurofarma team’s cars – three-time champion Daniel Serra and two-time champion Ricardo Maurício. “If racing is our job, we can say that getting these messages to people is like a mission,” they said.

The second stage of the 2020 Stock Car season and the Million Race will take place on August 22 and 23 in Interlagos.
