The recognitions were granted in the categories “Best Acquisition of the Year,” for the acquisition of Genfar, and “Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year,” for the human milk bank Lactare.
São Paulo, October 9, 2024 - Eurofarma, a multinational pharmaceutical company present in 22 countries, has just received two recognitions at the Global Generics & Biosimilars Awards. In the “Acquisition of the Year” category, the company won for the acquisition of Genfar, formerly Sanofi’s operation in Latin America and currently the brand responsible for all Eurofarma generic medicines in the region, except Brazil. In the “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of the Year” category, the winning project was Lactare, the company’s human milk bank.
Now in its 10th edition, the awards recognize best practices across 14 categories in the Generics and Biosimilars industries, while also encouraging improvements in all aspects of how the market operates.
By receiving these awards, Eurofarma demonstrates its ability to expand its business globally an objective that underpins its Vision 2027 consolidating its position as one of the leading players in the Latin American pharmaceutical market. The recognitions also highlight the company’s commitment to innovation and to promoting social responsibility in an integrated manner across its businesses, using its expertise to transform lives and create a positive impact on society.
The Genfar acquisition, completed in 2023, represents a significant advancement for Eurofarma over the past year in countries such as Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador, as well as more recently in Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, and Honduras.
Lactare, in turn, is a 100% social project that is part of the company’s ESG strategy. It supports families and premature babies hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units who, for multifactorial reasons, cannot receive milk directly from their mothers. Since its founding in 2019, the milk bank has collected more than 11,000 liters of human milk, distributed to partner public hospitals, helping to save more than 3,700 lives.
The winners were announced during a ceremony held at CPhI Worldwide, one of the leading global trade fairs dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry, in Milan, Italy. The event celebrated discussions on future market perspectives and challenges, as well as the outstanding contributions of companies and individuals driving positive transformations.
