Moderate consumption of chocolate offers different health benefits, as well as energy to the body. Formulas with more cocoa usually provides more benefits, as they are rich in antioxidants, which help in cardiovascular disease and cancer. Check below the favorable points regarding the chocolate:

1. Bowel cancer: It was released in 2008 by researchers at the University of Georgetown in the United States that procyanidins molecules, antioxidant properties in chocolate, are able to help fight tumorigenesis of bowel cancer, since they protect cells from tumor degeneration.
2. Well-being: Studies indicate that the consumption of chocolate helps in the production of substances responsible for pleasure and well-being, such as endorphin and dopamine.
3. Heart Health: Scientists at Linkoping University in Sweden have said that bitter chocolate inhibits the production of an enzyme responsible for raising blood pressure, improving cardiovascular health. In addition, it also helps to lower LDL levels, the bad cholesterol.
4. Brain health: Among all the dark chocolate benefits, studies from Johns Hopkins University in the United States have found that it also helps reduce brain damage after a stroke, as a compound called epicatechin is able to protect nerve cells. The tests were performed on mice and the team hoped that the effects could be applied to humans.
5. In pregnancy: Research from Yale University in the United States has found that the theobromine compound, found in chocolates with higher amounts of cocoa, helps prevent pre-eclampsia in pregnant women. It is suggested that women who consume chocolate at least five times a week are 40 percent less likely to develop the problem than women who do not consume.
6. Heart Attacks: Tests have shown that eating chocolate twice a week resulted in a 66% lower chance of dying of a heart disease and once a week reduced the same risk by almost half. This is because it is a food rich in antioxidants, a substance that helps prevent aging caused by free radicals.
7. Natural Analgesic: According to a study from the University of Chicago in the United States the distraction of eating food for pleasure assists in relieving pains, functioning as a natural painkiller. The tests were performed on mice, but researchers believe the same effect occurs in people.
8. Beauty: Chocolate prevents oxidation of cells, being present in moisturizers and other cosmetics.
9. Physical fatigue: It has been proven by two surveys conducted by University of Texas scientists in the United States that chocolate milk is the best beverage for recovery from physical activity.
